Gonzalo Torres Gimeno studied architecture in Montevideo, Uruguay and interior design in Madrid's prestigious School for Decorative Arts before going on to inject his own personal aesthetic in homes, businesses and galleries the world over.
Gonzalo has tried his hand at logo design for brands in Spain, the USA and Uruguay (Mundial, Paranoia and Splendido, respectively). He was the creative and design director behind South Beach's Pacha bar, as well as the various iterations of bar and live music venue Splendido in Punta del Este—from La Barra to Manantiales and José Ignacio.
His work can be found in the private collections of clients like Heidi Weber and in artist's residence Casa Gómez, as well as high-end art and design boutiques like Santas Negras and Badalucca in Uruguay.
Never too far from the ocean or a wide open space, Gonzalo draws inspiration from the eternal dichotomy of light and shadow, as well as nature and the vibrant colors typical of warm places like his former home Miami. These days, Los Angeles' vibrant mix of cultures—from Latin to Asian—serves as a direct source of inspiration for his Chapeaux Chinois series.
